Library Regulations

Signing the membership form entails respecting the following regulations :

The Open Book Library is a place for research and quiet reading. The Library reserves the rigth to remove anyone who disturbs other users, the personnel or volunteers. The Library also reserves the right to prohibit further access when necessary.

A person must be a member of the library to be entitled to borrow books and/or documents.

Only individual memberships are available. If a group or an association wants borrowing privileges they must nominate one of their members to become an individual member of the Library and that person will borrow, and be responsible for, the books/documents.

Materials in the Reference or Limited Access areas, journals, magazines and materials in folders must be consulted in the Library. They may not be removed from the Library.

Membership entitles each person to borrow up 5 books/documents for a 3 weeks period. This period may be extended by 3 weeks if no one else has reserved the books/documents.

The borrower is responsible for the borrowed materials. Each member is expected to return materials on time, to cover the late penalties, and the cost of damaged or lost books/documents. If the book/document is damaged or lost, the member can replace it with a new copy or pay costs to the Library for replacement. The Library will determine the cost for damaged or lost books/documents.

The late penalty is $0.25 per working day late.

A member cannot borrow more materials when they have overdue books/documents or an outstanding bill with the Library.
